DOMINIQUE BROWN-BERSET practises mainly in the field of international dispute resolution (in particular international arbitration, mediation and litigation), contracts and international business transactions, as well as in matters involving international private and public law issues. She holds law degrees from Lausanne University Law School, Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and Harvard Law School. She was called to the Bar in 1982. She has acted as counsel, co-counsel and arbitrator (also as sole arbitrator and president of arbitral tribunals) in over 250 international cases around the world, including in cases involving states and international organisations at both private and governmental levels. She has a particular interest and experience in early settlement tools related to arbitration.
She is on the panel of arbitrators of several arbitral institutions, in particular HKIAC, JCAA, SIAC, AIAC (previously KLRCA) and CAS. She is a member of the Management Board and the Supervisory Council of the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law (appointed by the Federal Government), member of the editorial board of several arbitration reviews and publications, such as, e.g., The Journal of International Arbitration and GAR.
Dominique was a member of the LCIA Court of Arbitration until May 2020), former co-chair of the arbitration committee of the International Bar Association, past President of ArbitralWomen, former international vice-president of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London) and of the Executive Committee of the “Société Suisse des Juristes”.
