Gord McKee has more than 30 years' experience defending class actions and serious product liability claims in Canada. He leads Blakes Class Actions team, recognized by Chambers as one of the top class actions practices in Canada. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and Certified by The Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Civil Litigation. He has led the defence of common issues class action trials in Canada, and appeared as lead counsel on a variety of other matters in trial and appellate level courts, in Ontario and other provinces. His current cases include acting as lead lawyer in Ontario and other provinces, and managing litigation nationally, for some of the world's largest manufacturers of prescription and over-the-counter medicines, medical devices, consumer goods and construction equipment. He is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in class action and product liability/ life sciences defence, receiving product liability lawyer of the year awards in Canada from several leading legal directories on multiple occasions. He is a past member of the IADC Board of Directors, and active in civil justice reform initiatives and a variety of substantive law committees. He is a member of PLAC, DRI, Candian Defence Lawyers and The Advocates Society. He has also been a member of the Canadian Bar Association's National Class Action Task Force, a bench and bar committee that developed judicial protocols to manage overlapping, multi-jurisdictional class actions in Canada.
